The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) is a land of rich heritage and tradition. While it is globally recognized as a leading producer and exporter of petrochemicals, it also has a deep-rooted love for dates. With over 300 distinct varieties cultivated across the region—each with its own unique flavour and texture—Saudi Arabia is now the world’s third-largest producer of dates, with evidence of cultivation dating back to 700 B.C.

Dates and date palms are integral to the country’s cultural and religious identity. They symbolize Arabian hospitality and are a cherished part of daily life.

In Saudi homes and offices, guests are often welcomed with dates and qahwa (Arabic coffee), a tradition that has endured for centuries. As VisitSaudi.com puts it:

“This nutritious fruit has been a staple of the Saudi diet since ancient times.”

Given the rich history, flavours, and cultural significance of Saudi dates, we believe they are the perfect choice for our offerings.

Our Dates Varieties

We bring you our carefully selected favourites, sourced from the ancient souqs of the Kingdom. Our dates are certified Grade 1 from the region, ensuring the highest quality. Below are our main varieties and their unique tasting notes.

Medina Ajwa

The most distinct and luxurious of all date varieties, Ajwa dates grow exclusively in the Medina region of Saudi Arabia. Beyond their rich flavour, they hold deep cultural and historical significance.

Safawi

A true classic, Safawi dates are perhaps the second most well-known variety from Medina after Ajwa. These exquisite, dark brown dates have a soft, chewy texture and a delightful caramel-like sweetness.

Ambar Dates

Native to the Medina region, Ambar dates are renowned for their impressive size, making them one of the largest date varieties in Saudi Arabia.

Khidri

Originally from Egypt, Khidri dates are now widely cultivated across Saudi Arabia. Our Khidri dates are sourced from farms in the Qassim region. With their deep chestnut-red colour, chewy texture, and rich caramel-like sweetness, they are a true delight.

Mabroom

Elongated and distinctively amber-brown, Mabroom dates—another favourite from Medina—are known for their soft, chewy texture and perfectly balanced caramel-like sweetness.
